WinterSpell

I took a walk last night
It was cold, I could see my breath, and the winter night cast a spell on me
no one was around, no sounds other than the crunch of snow under my boots.
The winter is loney, cold, empty.
but there is beauty there as well...in the sparkles of the falling snow.
And I found myself falling in love with the night, the mystery of the darkness
by the light of the streetlamp, and the moon.

Good Ole Uncle John!

I remember moments with my Great Uncle John, mostly as a little girl. He would always spend time with me, teach me things, tell me stories, play games. He was a patient man, never got angry or annoyed (and i'm quite sure I was annoying at that age). I remember silly things, like how I would always mess up his hair, and after he'd go upstairs and fix it again, I'd do it again! After a few trips up the stairs he'd finally just leave it all messy and we would both laugh! He'd always save the Sunday comics for me and we'd read them together, he'd help with the "find the differences" ones, those were always my favorite. We'd walk down to the store together and he'd always buy me a peanut candy bar, god i miss those! He was at every birthday, every family event, every occasion. He was a loving, giving, caring, kind, wonderful man. I will always remember him with a smile on my face. Good Ole Uncle John! You were so loved, you will be so missed....

In Memory Of You
We want to always remember
The beautiful life you lived
And keep alive the memories we have
Through remembering what you did
For you're so special to all of us
A wonderful person indeed
Your love, laughter and warm smile
Reflected a heart that believed
Just in the everyday things we do
We remember your faith and love
In the words you spoke to help us through
Is a continued reminder for us
Although we miss you so very much
We know we'll see you once more
For this is the hope we have in God
Being re-united in the Lord
And as we gather we'll continue to share
Special times we went through
For these are memories that warm our hearts
As we honour the memory of you
- M.S. Lowndes
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush;
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand by my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
-Mary Frye

After Glow
I'd like the memory of me
To be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow
Of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
Whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
And bright and sunny days
I'd like the tears
Of those who grieve,
To dry before the sun
Of happy memories that I leave
When life is done.

The Turning Point ....

The turning point, into adulthood.
I wonder when the moment officially happens, I feel it now.... sometimes, but not completely. I guess that's why they say age is a relative thing. I'm married now, a wife. I still get goosebumps when I hear him say it. It's exciting, it's happiness, but it means I'm not a kid anymore. But do I want to be? I don't think so, I like my freedom, my independence, but it means getting older, having responsibility, a house, all the bills that come with it. It's happiness, it's life. I wouldn't change it. I think about restless nights in my childhood, wondering about what and who I would become, who I would marry, where we would live, how many kids we'd have. It's what I always dreamed about... longed for. And I have it now, I have him, my love and my world, our beautiful house (I often picture children running out the door to catch the bus, a dinner table full of little faces, doing homework, reading bedtime stories, a nursery painted blue or pink, hearing the echos of a family, it's warm and it's comforting) I'm scared but I'm not, I'm excited and so thankful and so lucky to have my love, my life, all the things that come with it. It's happiness, its life, and I'm so thankful , so lucky to be here in this moment, in these moments and in these days, so much to look forward to and to hope for and........the best is yet to come!

“Growing up is never easy. You hold on to things that were. You wonder what's to come. But that night, I think we knew it was time to let go of what had been, and look ahead to what would be. Other days. New days. Days to come. The thing is, we didn't have to hate each other for getting older. We just had to forgive ourselves... for growing up.” - The wonder years

Peace

peace.
it does not mean to be in a place
where there is no noise, trouble
or hard work. it means to be in the
midst of those things and still
be calm in your heart.

THE HEAT IS ON!!!!!

(imagine the song by Glenn Frey playing and Dave and I dancing in our underwear!)

The heat is on, on the street
Inside your head, on every beat
And the beat's so loud, deep inside
The pressure's high, just to stay alive
'Cause the heat is on

Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho
Caught up in the action I've been looking out for you
Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho
(Tell me can you feel it)
(Tell me can you feel it)
(Tell me can you feel it)
The heat is on, the heat is on, the heat is on
the heat is on Oh it's on the street , the heat is - on

Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho
Caught up in the action I've been looking out for you
Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho
(Tell me can you feel it)
(Tell me can you feel it)
(Tell me can you feel it)
The heat is on, the heat is on, the heat is on
Oh it's on the street , the heat is - on

The shadows are on the darker side
Behind those doors, it's a wilder ride
You can make a break, you can win or lose
That's a chance you take, when the heat's on you
When the heat is on

Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho
Caught up in the action I've been looking out for you
Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho
(Tell me can you feel it)
(Tell me can you feel it)
(Tell me can you feel it)
The heat is on, the heat is on, the heat is on

It's on the street
The heat is on, the heat is on, the heat is on
Yeah it's on the street
The heat is on

Freezing and Frustrated!

Ok so it started Sunday Morning when we woke up to a frozen house. The heat decided not to come on that day and so it didn't. Today will be the 4th visit from the repair man and we're hopeful he can actually fix the problem this time, assuming we finally figured out what it is! It's honestly been a huge inconvenience to say the least. Dave and I are totally frustrated, from being cold, from being in the house less than a year and having these problems with the furnace, and from putting all of our faith into a repair man who may or may not really know what the problem is! We have a couple space heaters and in combination with having the oven open and on full blast we've been able to stay warm but another day or two of this and I might start freaking out completely! LOL It really makes you realize what you have and what you take for granted. I mean it's heat, it's a given, but imagine having to go through a whole winter without it, or having to worry about whether or not they're going to shut it off because you can't pay the bill. At least once it's fixed it will be fixed (hopefully, fingers crossed) and we can go on with our normal life of luxury! Dave and I have to keep reminding each other to really be thankful for what we do have because it's easy to get all pissed off and stressed out but really look at what we do have! I don't need to run down the list but this is silly in comparison. I mean this is something that people have to go through right? The joys of home ownership. Things break and you have to pay to fix them, that's just the way it goes. Soooo I'm thankful today that I have this blog to vent on lol. And once the repair man leaves today I'll be thankful that the heat is finally on (fingers crossed) and thankful that I won't have to see that man again hallelujah!!

PS) Or we could always try this!

Shows to get excited about!

TVOk so I'm not one of those people who's lives revolve around TV. That being said I am addicted to several shows! Having a DVR is amazing to say the least, which is really why I'm able to catch up on so many of my favorites. I just record them all and watch them when I get the chance. Like in the mornings getting ready for work my vice is "King of Queens" reruns. (It used to be Friends but now that I've seen every single episode at least 20 times and can literally quote scenes back to you, really try me!, I have to admit it got a little old)

So here are a few shows that I can't wait for! (well I can but I'm really excited!)

First thing first....drum roll please......The Vampire Diaries.

Not only are the actors visually appealing....mmmm give me a moment.....oh sorry... but they can also act! Which is more than I can say for Twilight. And the story is actually pretty good. It's basically about two brothers, Stephen and Damon, that fell in love with the same girl back in the 1800's. This "girl" was a vampire and changed them both. They both wanted her to themselves and because of this they were constantly fighting. This girl, Catherine, ends up dying (we're still a little iffy on what actually happened here) and leaves them both obviously as vampires. They go their separate ways for oh about 150 years and both end up coming back to their home town in Virgina. Enter Elena, a beautiful girl who lives there and oddly enough looks exactly like Catherine! Her and Stephen hit it off and oh it gets a bit steamy. All the while Damon is making both their lives a living hell. Theres also a story line about Elena's younger brother Jeremy that is dealing with drug addiction stemmed from the loss of their parents who died in a car crash. Elena's best friend Bonnie is finding out that she's a witch and they did some foreshadowing at the end of the fall finale about a possible werewolf.
Honestly it's so worth watching! It's actually based on a book series from the 90's which of course I read as soon as I found that out! I think the show is waaay better than the books which is rare, but they did change up a bunch of things which I think was an improvement. Anyways watch it aaaaand you're welcome! PS) the new episodes start Thursday January 21st

Next up is Glee....

At first I wasn't sure about this and it took me a while to get into it. I actually missed a few episodes during the season but when I came back to it I was able to figure out what happened. This is a feel good show, it's about a high school Glee club who are trying to make it to nationals in order to be able to keep their club. With budget cuts and what not they're constantly at risk of getting shut down. The kids are a motley crew of students including some cheerleaders and jocks that basically joined the club to help the cheer leading coach spy on them. She's a piece of work but a very funny character. My favorite parts of the show though are when they sing, they do some cool mixes and performances....definitely worth taking a look. Season two begins in April.

And then of course there is True Blood! Hey it's HBO you really can't go wrong.

I don't think ones coming back until Summer though so we have a while to go....boooo

Then there's Dexter

This one just finished it's 4th season and won't be back until September. It's pretty great though. I think the writing and over all ideas are pretty original. It's about a blood pattern expert who works for the Miami police department. He's a closet serial killer but he only kills people that have killed people, he has this whole code thing. He's also haunted by the ghost of his adopted father, although it's not so much haunted as it is his own mind conjuring up his father when he's talking to himself. If you've ever seen six feet under it's the same idea. The way they ended the season was unbelievable!!!!!! And I can't wait for more!!! This is also one of the only shows that Dave and I watch together.

Then of course we have American Idol. It premiers on Tuesday January 12th Yay!!!!!

We also have 90210 on the list and this is one of my secret guilty pleasures of course. Now I've never seen the orginal series so I don't have anything to compare and yes this show is pretty cheesey but I can't help myself, and so it made the list! New episodes starting soon!

And last but not least is Grey's Anatomy scheduled to return on January 14th. I have to admit I'm only somewhat interested in Grey's lately, probably because the Vampire Diaries is stealing all my attention on Thursdays, hehe. And I really do miss the days of Denny *sigh*, but it's on my list for a reason so you know I'll be watching it!

GOTTA LOVE IT!

This is so funny too because when Twilight the movie first came out I went to see it with a few friends. When this scene (the one where Bella wakes up from a dream in the middle of the night and she sees Edward standing there in the shadows) came on my one friend was like OMG that really is so creepy (I should also mention that this friend is team Jacob, lol)
Anyways having read the books myself, obviously, i think it's very romantic, but I also think that this is funny as hell!!!!

Ok back in the swing.....

So I already broke my resolution (to post everyday) but in my defense I've been sick (who hasn't these days!). But i'm BAAAAACK and feeling great! So here's to the New Year! It feels pretty weird to be 2010 already...where does the time go? I remember so clearly all the panic of the Y2K nonsense, these days we just have to worry about terrorist attacks, yay for us! :(

So anyways here's a list of things i'm looking forward to in 2010....

First off the Buffalo Bandits! They kickoff their season in Rochester on January 9th! I'm taking Dave there for his birthday and we're going to stay overnight with some friends and party on to welcome the Bandits return! woooo hooooo! - For those of you that don't know about the Bandits my advice is go to a game, you'll have an AMAZING time for like 12 bucks a seat and get this, the team is actually good!!! We've won several championships which is obviously more than I can say for the Bills or Sabres (whom I love btw, I just wish they would win more!) Once you go to a game you'll be hooked, BanditLand is the best place on earth (aside from Disney World) and I'm sure you'll love it!

Next is our honeymoon. We're planning a trip to Florida and the Bahamas in April. The plan is to the spend a couple days in Disney World because we both already need a fix haha. Then we're going to catch a Bandits Game (oh yea!) as they take on the Orlando...UM??? well formerly the New York Titans, they just moved to Orlando and I can't recall if they changed their name. Then we're going to catch a cruse from Coco Beach to the Bahamas where we're going to swim with the Dolphins! We're very much looking forward to this one! And to fitting into that Bikini :)

Which leads me to my next one which is GET IN SHAPE. This is one that I have to be conscious of everyday. I have the Wii which is so cool for working out. I got several workout games for it so I have plenty of variety and NO EXCUSES! I think this is an excellent way to work out at home. The games are fun and easy to use, and they motivate you. The one I have, EA Active Trainer is literally a personal trainer, and having actually worked out with a personal trainer at an actual brick and mortar gym I can tell you it's basically the same thing! The only difference is you can work out in your underwear (which I don't, but still nice to have the option) haha
Ok so yea work out and get in Shape, this is a big one but I'm very excited about it. I don't have much to lose but I would like to be down about 20 lbs by the summer. So let the countdown begin....

I'm also pretty excited about Eclipse which comes out in June. I must admit I'm not as excited as I was about Twilight or New Moon. I LOVE the books, there is no denying that, they're amazing and they touched me like no other story ever has, but the movies are just so so. I honestly wish they were better, think Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter and you'll understand what I mean. None of the people in ether of those movies were big names when they first came out but the overall production was just so much better. I get that the first film (Twilight)was low budget but that doesn't excuse the sh*tty acting. And now at this point there's really nothing that can be done short of just redoing the whole thing. New production company (I mean co'mon they have the $$ now) better actors and better screenplay. Sorry it's just how I feel. All in all for what it's worth I did enjoy both movies and I'll probably yet again be at the midnight showing of Eclipse will all the little teenyboppers squeaking about Jacobs abs, LOL but my expectations won't be that high. If I really want to escape into the world of Twilight I'll just have to read the books cause that's really where it's at.

So those are just a few things that I'm looking forward to in the new year, 2010 Baby!
